I know you are busy. We’re all busy! Consequently, for your convenience, this is a shorter version of Star Invasions, split into two halves: Compendium 1 and Compendium 2.Many worlds have mysteries about their origins. This world is no different. In the beginning, a crash destroys the alien crew’s spaceship of 675 - the mere 50 who survive must learn to adapt to primitive levels or perish on this strange forsaken planet. The leader who emerges develops a rational, less emotional demeanor needed to lead his marooned people under life-threatening circumstances.Star Invasions deals with five essential fledgling nations and potentially 200 years of their history as depicted by individual characters with parallels to a certain planet - except for a nation of aliens, including a reversal of a famous Civil War.A series of preliminary geopolitical map outlines of this world are uploaded at the Page Star Invasions Maps on Facebook, organized into a photo album, along with book cover pics, and planet landscape vistas.Note: This audiobook contains adult material and sexual situations and is not suitable for minors. This is not an invite to erotica or porn. It’s just a warning to parents to keep grown-up matters at grown-up levels away from children.     1. Language: English. Narrator: Larry Federink. The GIScience conference series was founded in 2000 with the goal of providing a forum for researchers interested in advancing the fundamental aspects of the prod- tion, dissemination, and use of geographic information. The conference is held bi- nually and attracts people from academia, industry, and government across a host of disciplines including cognitive science, computer science, engineering, geography, information science, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, social science, and stat- tics. Following a very successful conference in Münster, Germany in 2006, this year's conference was held in Park City, Utah, USA, the prior site of the 2002 Winter Ol- pics and home to the annual Sundance Film Festival. There are two forms of submission to the conference: full papers of 6000 words or less and extended abstracts of 500-1000 words for either a presentation or poster. This format was originally designed to capture the cultural difference between researchers who prefer to publish a peer-reviewed conference paper and those who would rather submit an abstract covering work in progress. This year 77 full papers were submitted and reviewed by 3 Program Committee members, of which 24 were selected for pr- entation and inclusion in this volume. Of the 115 extended abstracts that were subm- ted and reviewed by 2 Program Committee members, 47 were accepted for an oral presentation and 25 were accepted for presentation as a poster. The abstracts were published in a second booklet and are available on the GIScience website .

Legendary film director Robert Wise called the Whistler features, 'examples of budget filmmaking at its very best.' Noted B movie historian Don Miller cited them as, 'the best B pics of the period from Columbia.' Famed film critic/historian Leonard Maltin referred to the series as 'one of the most unusual- and one of the best mystery series of the 30's and 40's. . .' Based on J. Donald Wilson's hit radio suspense program featuring ironic tales of terror spun by a mysterious host, The Whistler film series consisted of eight motion pictures produced by Columbia Pictures between 1944 and 1948 starring legendary, Academy Award-nominated actor, Richard Dix. Although manufactured quickly and cheaply to fill the bottom half of a mandatory double bill, The Whistler films were suspenseful and well made, engendering wide popularity and surprising critical acclaim. Today historians and movie aficionados frequently cite them for their innovation and style-and as early examples of film noir. This is the story of the making of this landmark Columbia series, and the many extraordinary individuals who pooled their singular talents to make eight low budget movies into film classics. Included are rare profiles of 50 Whistler filmmakers: actors, directors, writers, and technicians.

99 Nights with The 99 Percent (2016 Reissue)

ORIGINAL MARCH 2012 ANNOUNCEMENT: Occupy Wall Street was the biggest news story of 2011. Among those who followed the movement like a storm chaser, Boston Phoenix Staff Writer Chris Faraone is one of the few who blogged about daily Occupy minutiae, but also stepped back to investigate and analyze the protest, and deliver weekly features. Starting in September, Faraone published a series of deep Occupy portraits, traveling to more than a dozen cities from Boston to Seattle. His work illustrates day-to-day Occupy operations, as well the characters who make the movement tick. In the process, he also landed nationwide exclusives, like a scoop on an underground legion of cops who support Occupy. 99 Nights with the 99 Percent is a collection of Faraone's published posts and articles on Occupy, streamlined into a sleek 224-page edition that also packs unpublished pieces and a number of bonus features. In addition to pics and illustrations, a series of haikus run throughout the book, taking readers through a timeline of the first 100 days of the movement. There are other books on Occupy, and by this time next year there will be countless tomes, apps, Occu-mentaries, and oral histories to choose from. But even then, 99 Nights will remain in a class of its own, as Faraone's story-and the way he tells it, packed with humor and emotion-is wholly unique. FROM THE NEW FOREWORD: With the fifth anniversary of Occupy Wall Street and its franchises all across the country upon us, it's interesting to consider that both widespread agitation and mass grassroots momentum come in waves-from the anti-nuclear proliferation front in the 1980s to the emerging post-Bernie for President movement today. These magic moments are all worth extensive study, because while the faux-populists who cheered on the extinction of Occupy like to pitch some version or another of the same question-What ever happened to those losers?-but aren't interested in waiting for responses, the actual answer is omnipresent.

American essayist and Harper’s contributing editor Garret Keizer offers a brilliant, literate look at our strip-searched, over-shared, viral-videoed existence. Body scans at the airport, candid pics on Facebook, a Twitter account for your stray thoughts, and a surveillance camera on every street corner -- today we have an audience for all of the extraordinary and banal events of our lives. The threshold between privacy and exposure becomes more permeable by the minute. But what happens to our private selves when we cannot escape scrutiny, and to our public personas when they pass from our control? In this wide-ranging, penetrating addition to the Big Ideas//Small Books series, and in his own unmistakable voice, Garret Keizer considers the moral dimensions of privacy in relation to issues of social justice, economic inequality, and the increasing commoditization of the global marketplace. Though acutely aware of the digital threat to privacy rights, Keizer refuses to see privacy in purely technological terms or as an essentially legalistic value. Instead, he locates privacy in the human capacity for resistance and in the sustainable society 'with liberty and justice for all.'
